Sri Lankan Heritage
Sri Lanka Holidays would not reveal everything it has to offer within a fortnight of Sri Lanka Travel. Aranya Resort Location




Located serenely bordering the Katagamuwa entrance of the Yala National Park, the Aranya Resort is spread out over a large 6 acre land which is secure yet surrounded by the natural wilderness. This resort is located about 305km South of Colombo in Yala which is famous for its national park that attracts many adventure and nature lovers all throughout the year. A mere 5km away is the sacred town of Kataragama.

Location
Yala National Park is located 305 km south of Colombo.
Reaching Yala
The gateway to Yala National Park is Tissamaharama 264km south of Colombo in the Hambantota district of Southern province of Sri Lanka.
Entrance to Yala
The entrance to Yala National Park is located at Palatupana, 27km from Tissamaharama.
Birdwatching
Birdwatching is done year round. During the period of October to March thousands of migrant birds arrive to escape the winter in the northern hemisphere.
Viewing Elephants
Wild elephants are seen the year round at Yala National Park. During the dry season of May to August elephants are seen in herds around the waterholes.
Mammals
Among the resident mammals of Yala National Park are wild boar, sloth bears, wild buffaloes, macaque and langur monkeys, jackals, mongooses, pangolins, porcupines, rabbits and wild cats.
Closed period
Yala National Park is usually closed annually during the period of 1st September to 15th October.

Aranya Resort Accommodation & Facilities


Aranya Resort Accommodation
With the ability to comfortably house a number of 27 adults the Aranya Resort in Yala comprises of 4 eco lodges and a well built tree house. Each lodge as well as the tree house consists of a separate washing area with a mirror, as well as fans and mosquito nets inside. There is an outdoor sky shower area secured from the sides while the toilets include modern fittings. Bed linen and soap are provided.

Mandakini - with the ability to accommodate 9 adults, this cottage consists of 6 single beds and fans inside the room while there are 3 single beds outside. A few yards away there are 2 separate toilets and 2 open to the sky bathrooms. This entire cottage is situated overlooking the pool and the jungle.

Arana - Ideal for 8 adults, the cottage consists of 5 single beds outside with mosquito nets and a single bed indoor again with a mosquito net and fan. There is a single toilet that is attached to the cottage while the two outdoor showers are found under the trees. This too overlooks the pool and the jungle.

Gagana - With clear views of the 'Vadasiti Kanda', the pool and the jungle, this cottage can accommodate up to 10 adults and consist of 2 double beds inside with mosquito nets and fans, 6 single beds outside with mosquito nets and 2 toilets and 2 open to sky showers outside the cottage.

Mandara - This cottage is air-conditioned while it is ideal for two adults. It consists of 1 double bed and a fan while there is a toilet and shower area just outside the cottage. It also includes a television with local channels while there is hot water available.

Ruk Arana - Is the tree hut and consists of a ladder to climb up. This unit offers the best views while the toilet is found a few yards away.

Aranya Resort Facilities

Away from civilization, the Aranya Resort in Yala is a safe haven offering you a peaceful and all natural surrounding enabling you to enjoy every bit of your holiday in the wilderness. The resort consists of a restaurant 'Makaranda' where you can enjoy mouth-watering Sri Lankan cuisine as well as delicious western dishes. The restaurant also includes a lounge area with satellite television and stereo facilities. The adjoining area of the restaurant is beautifully lit up with lanterns during the night and can be utilized by guests to enjoy a BBQ. The latest addition to the resort is the beautiful outdoor swimming pool where you can enjoy dips in warm and sunny weather.
